Boston Documentary Art Photographer

Claire Beckett is a Boston-based art photographer.In her work she explores the idea of what it means to be a 21st- century American.Recent projects have investigated American military training and American converts to Islam.Prior to her training in photography at Mass College of Art, she studied anthropology at Kenyon College and worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin.Claire Beckett?s photographs have been exhibited at Carroll and Sons Gallery, the Wadsworth Atheneum, The National Portrait Gallery, Mass MoCA, the deCordova Museum, Silver Eye Center for Photography, and the Noorderlicht Festival, and featured in Art Forum, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Public Culture, Flak Photo, and Huffington Post, among others.She is the recipient of an Artadia Award and a Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant, and was an artist-in-residence at Light Work.
